Erin Weinstein, PhD

licensed clinical psychologist, director of professional development

Dr. Erin Weinstein’s focus is on building strong relationships with her clients to help them in their life journeys. She believes that understanding both the conscious and unconscious mind is key to personal growth. Using different psychotherapy techniques, she helps clients become more aware of themselves, boost their self-esteem, and better manage their emotions. This leads to improved everyday life, stronger relationships, and a better quality of life overall. Dr. Weinstein approaches each client as a whole person—not just a set of problems or diagnoses. She is an active and warm participant in therapy sessions, recognizing clients as the experts on their own lives. Her goal is to provide a safe and welcoming space where clients can explore their thoughts with curiosity, humor, and an open mind. Dr. Weinstein’s particular areas of specialty include helping older teens and young adults who find it hard to manage their emotions and/or engage in problematic or self-harming behaviors. She also has a particular interest in helping adults to navigate parenting challenges due to their own emotional struggles.

Dr. Weinstein is a NYS Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience conducting, supervising, and teaching psychotherapy, risk assessment, and crisis intervention across a wide range of settings and people. Dr. Weinstein holds a double BA from Bucknell University in Psychology and Spanish Literature and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She completed her pre-doctoral psychology internship at NYC H+H/Elmhurst Hospital Center. Dr. Weinstein’s postdoctoral work experience includes serving as an Associate Director of Mental Health for NYC H+H/Correctional Health Services on Rikers Island (Clinical Supervisor for the Young Adult Mental Observation Unit); as the Senior Director of Training & Development for the Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services, a nonprofit at the intersection of the mental health and criminal legal systems in New York City; and as a clinical psychologist in independent private practice in Westchester County. Dr. Weinstein is a member of the executive board for the Westchester Center for Psychology Education. Dr. Weinstein was an instructor for the Youth-Based Crisis Intervention Team training for NYC H+H and NYC DOC staff while working on Rikers Island and is a certified instructor for Crisis Prevention Institute’s Nonviolent Crisis De-Escalation and SAMHSA’s Trauma-Informed Responses for Law Enforcement trainings.
