Kate Testa, M.A.
art therapist in residence
Kate Testa is a recent graduate of the Art Therapy program at New York University. She has extensive experience working with children in grades K–12 from diverse backgrounds, including English language learners, students with learning and physical disabilities, and children on the autism spectrum. Kate began her career as a scenic artist in the theater industry before pivoting to her long standing passion for working with children. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute. Following her graduation, she spent four years teaching middle school art in Bushwick, where she developed a strong commitment to supporting her special education students.
Her work in special education inspired her to pursue art therapy, deepening her interest in how creative expression can support children and families. During her time at NYU, Kate gained clinical experience with both children and adults in a range of inpatient and outpatient settings, including New York City Children’s Center Outpatient Care, Bellevue Hospital’s Chemical Dependency Outpatient Program, and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. Kate identifies as both an art educator and an art therapist, and enjoys blending the overlapping principles of each in her practice. Kate is thrilled to be joining the practice at PPG and contributing her skills and experience to its dedicated team.
In her free time, Kate enjoys making art, watching cartoons, spending time with her husband and her cat, and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies.
