Marissa is an EMDR Trained Therapist, having received her training from The Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy. This training is accredited by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and meets their highest professional standards. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences, anxiety, and other distressing life events. By supporting the brain’s natural healing processes, Marissa helps her clients develop more adaptive beliefs about themselves and their experiences, building the resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges.
Marissa received her Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, and her undergraduate degree from Manhattan College. With over seven years of experience, she has worked with children, adolescents, and adults across inpatient and outpatient settings, including Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital and various Westchester County school districts. Her clinical work focuses on trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, and family challenges, all while maintaining a focus on empowering clients to find their balance and thrive.
